Camping4Girls, is a national, 501 (c)3 nonprofit organization that was formed in 1911 by six friends in Iowa. For nearly 115 years, we were known as the National T.T.T. Society (see FAQ #2) until we started doing business as Camping4Girls in 2025. We are a network of multigenerational women from all walks of life. We are mothers, sisters, grandmothers, teachers and other passionate women who believe that camp empowers girls to learn confidence, skills-building and a sense of belonging. Camping4Girls members help selected 4th grade girls with a cost-free week at camp and provide them with camp clothes, gear, transportation to and from camp, and encourage them through mentorship that extends beyond their time at camp.

This varies by year, depending on how many campers each local chapter is able to send. On average, we sponsor approximately 250 girls per year. Individual local chapters take full responsibility for getting girls ready for camp and following up after camp. Smaller chapters might send two girls, and larger chapters may send up to 20 girls.

Each local chapter works with school counselors, school nurses or local social service agencies to identify 4th grade girls who may benefit from a week at summer camp. Many different factors lead to girls being recommended to us, and we rely on the best judgment of school or community staff who know the girls. The girls we support are invited to attend a free week at camp the summer between 4th and 5th grade.

Camping4Girls partners with a variety of American Camp Association (ACA)-accredited camps across the United States. Each camp is thoroughly reviewed and approved by our Camp Project Board. Qualified camps include YMCA, Girl Scouts and other well-known local camps.

Local chapters meet at least nine times a year. Most members help with the camping program and fundraising events. Because we are an all-volunteer organization, members may serve as chapter officers and some may go on to serve at the State and National level. We hold a National Convention every other year, which is a great opportunity to connect with new and long-time Camping4Girls friends. Most importantly, being a member is a chance to make a real difference in the lives of young girls while making great friends. Learn more about membership here.

Each active member pays annual National dues of $40. Associate members pay National dues of $20. Most of the funds from dues is budgeted for camp fees. State and local chapters may also collect dues from their members. Contact your nearest Camping4Girls chapter to learn more.

Camping4Girls has local and state chapters or councils. At the local level, members coordinate camper activities and chapter fundraisers. At the state level, women from local chapters form the State Board, which organizes statewide activities and projects. The National Board includes women from various states and handles the business of the organization. The Project Board oversees and manages the national Camping Project.

As an all-volunteer organization, our largest expense and first priority is paying camp fees for our chosen campers. We understand our responsibility to our communities and donors and work hard to ensure the long-term sustainability of our organization. We make our IRS Form 990 public for anyone to review as well as a financial snapshot of our revenue and expenses.
